Jail Haikus

Updated: Nov 4, 2023

The haiku is a Japanese poetic form that consists of three lines, with five syllables in the first line, seven in the second, and five in the third. The haiku became a separate form of poetry in the 17th century.

I wrote these haikus in prison. They aren't very proper but hopefully they get the message across!

Here I am in jail

Doing it for the forests.

What you gonna do?

What goes on in jail?

Oh! The drama! The drama!

Whisper. Shhhhh. Whisper.

We can do better

Stop the mass extinction of

Endangered species

Fuck everybody

A planet without humans

Will give peace a chance

The government is

Fully complicit in the

Death of our wildlife

What you gonna do

About the climate crisis?

Just go back to bed

The extinction of

Fantastic wild species

Happening now

What is jail life like?

The same thing day after day...

Oh! The monotony

Animals can't speak

But we can protect their homes

And leave them in peace

Stuck in a prison

While politicians run free

Stuffing up forests

What you gonna do

About the climate crisis?

Shaddappayaface

You are a mean c@&t

Put you in my mind dungeon

For eternity
